Could this new show out-gay Glee?

Happy Monday, men of ManPlay! How was everyone’s weekend? I went on a couple dates with men that I met off of the site – and one in particular was great. We’ll definitely be seeing each other again. How has your experience the last couple of days been?

I’m super excited right now because I’ve just seen the first poster that’s been revealed for a show that sounds like one that gay boys everywhere will love. The show’s called Smash and is on NBC starting in early February and will inevitably be compared to Glee, but is decidedly more adult. Not taking place in high school and instead the high-stakes world of Broadway, the cast couldn’t be more impressive. Will & Grace’s Debra Messing (oh, how I’ve missed you since The Starter Wife went off the air) stars along with the always amazing Anjelica Huston (excellent in the recent 50/50) and appear alongside Megan Hilty, who was fantastic in the role Dolly Parton made famous in the Broadway musical of the hit film 9 To 5. The poster is a teensy bit short on hot boys, but I’m sure they’ll be in there somewhere. Not one to stereotype, but what is Broadway without some hot gay men?! Add in the fact that Steven Spielberg is producing this (his hand with United States of Tara was totally welcome) and we could have a fantastic show on our hands. The fact that it’s on NBC is not entirely great news considering it seems like no one is tuning into any of their shows this year, but many who have seen the pilot think this could be the show to turn around their recent misfortune.

What do you think, ManPlay-ers? Will you be tuning in? Do you think it could be more gay than Glee? Let me know!

  1. Boo, Debbie Messy is an old hag. But yay to Anjie Huston, she is divine!
