The obvious answer is yes, of course you do. It’s no secret I’m a massive fan of The Golden Girls and can quote pretty much every line from every episode (and, to a lesser extent, The Golden Palace as well) and I’m well aware I’m not the only gay man who can do so. It’s with this knowledge that I think it would be of interest to fill you all in on a recipe for star Bea Arthur’s fave veggie breakfast. How have I stumbled upon something like this after she’s dead? It’s from a new cookbook (in questionable taste?!) called The Dead Celebrity Cookbook, with recipes pulled together by Frank DeCaro and is a vegetarian dish that serves two. Perhaps the perfect next-morning breakfast for a gay Romeo you meet on ManPlay? Just a suggestion! Enjoy the recipe below and tell me what you think of it!
Bea Arthur’s Vegetarian Breakfast
1 tablespoon margarine
2 medium tomatoes, sliced
¾ cup chopped fresh mushrooms
Salt and pepper, to taste
4 slices bread, toasted
Preheat oven to 250.
Melt the margarine in a small sauté pan over medium heat. Add the tomatoes and mushrooms, and sauté until soft, about 4 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Put some tomato-mushroom mixture on each piece of toast. Heat in the oven for 2 minutes before serving.
