Yet another reason to love Kate Winslet
Kate Winslet has really turned out to be one of the all-around most fantastic female celebrities of our generation, no? She comes across as being totally down-to-earth as well as being a fantastic actress. She’s also not someone who is always in the press blathering away about her personal life so when we see her in a movie, we can actually believe she is that character and not be wondering if she filmed a particular scene before her latest stint in rehab or after. As we reported the other day, she has just done a glamorous shoot that’s an homage to Elizabeth Taylor. In addition to posting another to die for shot from it above, we also have a quote taken from the interview where she positions herself to be Mom of the Year and also a shoo-in for Unassuming Gay Icon status.
Talking about her kids, Winslet says:”I want to be able to give my children as normal a life as possible. They need to take the bus, the subway, muck around on the playground without having five paparazzi take their picture. I don’t want those memories for them. I didn’t sign up for that. … I don’t want to be running and hiding. That’s not me, that’s not who I am. I like being in the city. I like the diversity that my children are exposed to every day. I love the way their brains work. Joe [her son] turns to me the other day and says, ‘One day, I will have a girlfriend. But I might have a boyfriend. If I’m gay.’ He’s 7! And I said, ‘You might have a girlfriend or a boyfriend, darling.’ And he said, ‘Which would you prefer?’ And I said, ‘My love, that would be entirely up to you, and it doesn’t make any difference to me.’ But that he knows! It’s a real privilege. Talk about the best education.”
And that lovely note wraps up another week here at ManPlay HQ. I’m definitely taking it easy this weekend while trying to enjoy a little early-September sunshine. If you’re stuck for things to do this weekend, head to ManPlay for some gay chat with all the hot boys online. And if you run into John on there, tell him to get back to work! Have a great weekend, everyone!
